Frederiksted, St. Croix – Our Town Frederiksted, Inc. (OTF), a community advocacy organization, is mourning the loss of its former president Ronald E. Russell, Esq. Russell served as the president of the organization from 2019 to 2023 and was a longstanding member.
“Our Town Frederiksted would not be where it is today without Ronnie’s leadership,” said Shomari Moorehead, President of Our Town Frederiksted. “He stepped in to bring OTF out of a period of inactivity and singlehandedly led the charge to reorganize and restore our organizational stability and financial solvency. Throughout the many years of his involvement with OTF, we benefited from his legal acumen, extensive knowledge of our community and his advocacy for Frederiksted.”
As OTF President, Russell was guided by his belief that collective effort can transform a community. He led the charge for OTF to partner with Children First St. Croix and the Virgin Islands Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation as the project fiduciary for the Midre Cummings Park rebuild. Today, the park remains a testament to OTF’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people it serves and creating spaces that foster community spirit and unity.
“On behalf of Our Town Frederiksted, I offer our thoughts, prayers, and support to Mrs. Royette Russell, his children, and the entire Russell family at this time. Ronnie’s love and advocacy for Frederiksted will guide us forward and inform our work in the years to come,” Moorehead concluded.
