A Celebration of Dreams and Unity (2021)

Over the years, Our Town Frederiksted, Inc. (OTF) has been deeply engaged in a variety of projects aimed at revitalizing Frederiksted’s Historic District and enhancing the community’s quality of life. One notable project that embodies our commitment to fostering unity community pride, and positive change is the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Midre Cummings Park.

On February 22, 2021, the Grand Opening of Midre Cummings Park in Frederiksted transcended the typical ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event was a true celebration of dreams, passion, and the pride of being a Virgin Islander. Midre Cummings, the 2001 World Series hero and proud Virgin Islander, graced the occasion with his presence and spoke passionately about the importance of following one’s dreams and the profound meaning of being deeply connected to the Virgin Islands. His words resonated with the audience, inspiring hope and determination.

What made this event truly remarkable was the collaboration between the Government, Non-Profit organizations like OTF, and dedicated volunteers. It showcased how a shared vision and a collective effort can transform a community. Midre Cummings Park became a shining example of what can be achieved when different sectors of society come together to create something wonderful for the community. This project was a testament to OTF’s dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of Frederiksted while simultaneously embracing progress. It demonstrated our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the lives of the people we serve and creating spaces that foster community spirit and unity.

As we reflect on our past projects, we draw inspiration from the Midre Cummings Park inauguration. It reminds us that with determination, collaboration, and a shared dream, we can continue to make positive, lasting impacts on Frederiksted and its residents. Our Town Frederiksted, Inc. remains committed to the journey of transformation and renewal for this remarkable town we call home.
