FREDERIKSTED, St. Croix — Our Town Frederiksted, Inc. (OTF) is seeking original, unpublished material for the upcoming Glory Days of Frederiksted Revival. Creative submissions should reflect an understanding of Frederiksted’s heritage, community life, events and landscapes. The submission period begins on October 6, 2025, and ends on December 6, 2025.
The Glory Days of Frederiksted Revival is a refresh of The Glory Days of Frederiksted – As Told By Frederiksted Residents Past and Present, a collection of essays and poems celebrating the town that was originally published in 2004 by the late Alphonso Franklin, OTF founding member and former president. OTF is calling for essays, short stories, poetry, photographs, artwork, video, music, oral histories and personal narratives that build on the foundation of the original publication. Submissions accepted for the Glory Days of Frederiksted Revival will also become part of an evolving digital archive and interactive public exhibitions.
The new publication is one component of the Glory Days of Frederiksted Revival – A Multi-Disciplinary Cultural Education Initiative, a yearlong project designed to preserve and celebrate the town’s rich cultural heritage through arts, education, and community engagement. The Revival of Glory Days of Frederiksted publication and planned multi-disciplinary events are made possible through a Healing Humanities Cultural Place-keeping Grant from the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development.
