Karole Ovesen-McGregor

Karole Elise Ovesen-McGregor is a native Virgin Islander from the beautiful island of St. Croix. Karole is a graduate of Morgan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies and a Masters in City and Regional Planning.
Karole worked with Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health for five years as a Research Coordinator, three years with the Frederiksted Health Care, Inc. as the Director of Operations, and worked with the Virgin Islands Department of Public Works for 30 years as the Territorial Highway Planner and Deputy Commissioner of Transportation. As the Highway Planner, Karole led a team of research analysts and highway technicians in research, highway data collection and analysis, and development of warranted traffic control systems at various locations throughout the Virgin Islands.
Currently, as the Deputy Commissioner of Transportation, Karole leads a team in transportation planning, grants writing and management, operations management, facility management, public transportation services and project development. Karole has written grants for ferry boats, facilities, equipment acquisition, energy conversion, rehabilitation projects and disaster recovery projects.
