Aesha Duval

Board Member

Aesha Duval was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. Writing has always been her passion. She began her career in journalism as a news writer for The Fayetteville Observer in North Carolina, the St. Croix Avis and the Virgin Islands Daily News.

Ms. Duval transitioned to public relations after seven years of news reporting and served as spokesperson and legislative assistant for a Member of Congress, former Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen, while also pursuing studies to become a librarian. She worked as an Elementary School Librarian before joining the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit as Branch Librarian for the District Court of the Virgin Islands. She manages two branches, one each located in the St. Croix Division and the St. Thomas-St. John Division. These are the only law libraries in the U.S. territory. 

Ms. Duval volunteers as a Story Time reader at Undercover Books in Gallows Bay, St. Croix, and has served on the Board of Trustees of Our Town Frederiksted Inc. since 2012. She was an adjunct professor of Public Speaking at the University of the Virgin Islands. 

Ms. Duval holds a bachelor’s degree in Print Media Journalism from Campbell University and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. Ms. Duval has a strong passion for Virgin Islands history, law, politics, civics education, literacy, community engagement and life-long learning. In her spare time, she likes baking, reading, and writing.
